Ian Davies has returned to Worthing Raiders for a fourth stint with the club.

Davies, who was with RFU Championship side Cornish Pirates for seven seasons, has agreed on a Raiders return as high performance manager, following last week’s departure of former head coach Kieron Dawson and backs coach Nick Buoy.

In a further change to the coaching team, former Raiders captain Jody Levett will return as coach, while Ben Coulson has been promoted to the same role.

Davies admitted a major influence in taking up a position again with Worthing was to try and develop the pair as coaches.

He said: “One of the main reasons behind me taking this role was to try to give Jody and Ben any help that they may need.

“They are both Worthing stalwarts and will want the club to do well.

“I am going to be firmly in the background, I’m moving back to the area and have a job at Christ’s Hospital School which will take up the vast majority of my time.
