Home advantage for Palmer as Northern European Cup heads to Silverstone

The R-ace GP driver impressed in the opening round of the Northern European Cup in April at Monza, taking a superb podium in race two after coming out on top following a race-long duel with fellow Brit Lando Norris.
Such was Palmer’s pace, he caught second-placed man Jehan Daruvala in the closing few laps and fought hard to find a way past, but ultimately had to settle for third place.

Hide AdSilverstone is a track the 2015 McLaren Autosport BRDC Award winner knows well and enjoys, as he took two dominant wins from three races in the BRDC Formula 4 Championship last year and broke the series’ lap record.
The 19-year-old also made his Formula Renault 2.0 debut at the Formula 1 venue, as he competed in the Eurocup category last September, finishing the third and final race of his maiden weekend in the series as top rookie.
Two races will be held on the 3.6-mile Grand Prix circuit in Northamptonshire, with qualifying taking place on Friday at 4.15pm.
Race one gets underway at 1pm on Saturday with the second and final encounter of the weekend taking place the next day at 10.25pm.

Hide AdHeading to Silverstone, the Southwater racer is currently seventh in the overall standings, just 18 points behind points leader Dorian Boccalacci.
Palmer said: “Silverstone is my home race and a track I know very well, so I’m really looking forward to getting going again this weekend. We had a good result at Monza last time with a podium in the second race, so I hope that on more familiar terrirtory for me, we will be able to challenge for wins.”
Alongside his Northern European Cup commitments, the BRDC Superstar will also contest the Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 championship this year, with the next round of that series forming part of the Formula 1 support bill at the glamorous Monaco Grand Prix.
