HOCKEY: Round-up (April 1)

WORTHING Hockey Club's ladies team will face local and league rivals East Grinstead in the final of the EHA Vase, after they overcame Oxted 2-1 at St Andrew's School on Sunday.

In a tight game, which was locked at 0-0 at half-time, second-half goals from Andrea Catlow and Shelley Formstone put Worthing two up, before they weathered an Oxted storm, after they had made it 2-1 10 minutes from time.

Worthing did have more of the chances after the break and dominated for 20 minutes. Catlow netted the first with a penalty flick on 43 minutes, after Formstone was fouled when through on goal.

Formstone herself was then on target, when she netted from open play.

Oxted then started to fight back and forced a number of short corners before they pulled a goal back.

But Worthing survived a late onslaught from Oxted, who are top of Surrey Division 1 and had lost just one game all season.

Worthing will now be looking to get revenge over holders East Grinstead
