Horsham manager Dominic Di Paola is becoming increasingly concerned of the effect a fixture pile-up could have on the Premier Division title race.

The Hornets’ home game with Arundel was called off just 45 minutes before kick-off on Tuesday night owing to a waterlogged pitch.

They were not scheduled a game on Saturday and after a home match with East Preston this weekend which is already in doubt, have no fixture on February 6.

Di Paola said: “It’s infuriating as we have no game on February 6 either. I do not know the fixture planning, but we have five or six possible windows now for postponements until the end of the season, which we will be struggling with.

“I am just concerned about the fixtures. Will Saturday be on realistically? It’s rained all day Wednesday, and what if that’s got to be rearranged?

“It’s very hard, but Eastbourne Town are in the same boat really. I just do not understand when you get two free Saturdays.

“Could they not tweak the fixtures a bit so we play someone on the sixth, then play someone later in the season? Maybe it is not as easy as at that?
