Northern Lights effect over Eastbourne – video captures colourful light display in sky
and live on Freeview channel 276
In an effect reminiscent of the Northern Lights, iridescent streams of light can be seen ebbing and flowing in the purple starry sky above the downs.
The remarkable time lapse video, made by Max Thompson, shows the waves begin as small bright flashes before building into a spectacular rainbow-coloured phenomenon.

Hide AdIt could be an aurora, which is a natural light display in the sky caused by solar winds.
The most famous kind of aurora is the aurora borealis, or Northern Lights, which are often seen in high latitude regions around the Arctic.
