Actors overcome disabilities toperform Battle of Hastings show

Boathouse is a performing arts company for young adults and children with disabilities in the Hastings and Rother area.
Their production was entitled The Battle Of Hastings The Fairy Story.

Hide AdBoathouse chairman Kevin Barry said: “This was our third performance at the Hastings Centre.
“All the performances have been very well supported, and our members love being there.
“The staff at the Centre have got to know us and are always very friendly and helpful.
“This performance was to celebrate the 950th anniversary of the battle of Hastings and it was a challenge but the members really enjoyed doing it.”

Hide AdKevin added: “We are in our sixth year now and have done over 12 performances.
“We have the Sunday group which is for Young adults from 16 years old, they meet every Sunday between 1030-1230 at Glyne Gap School Bexhill. There is also a Boathouse for children which also meets at Glyne Gap School but on a Saturday from 10.30am -11.30am.
“Finally our third group is for profound multiple learning disabilities and they meet at Phelam House, at Bexhill, on a Thursday morning from 1030am -11.30am.” If anyone is interested in joining any of the groups and would like further details , they can contact Kevin Barry on 07598 649629.
